PRESS RELEASE, 11 June 2022

On Saturday, 11 June 2022 13.00 hours, at the Cotroceni Palace, during a ceremony attended by President of Romania and the Presidents of the two Chambers of Parliament, as well as in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ms. Mihaela CIOCHINĂ, Ms. Laura-Iuliana SCÂNTEI and Mr. Dimitrie-Bogdan LICU were sworn-in as judges of the Constitutional Court.

By Decree no. 782, published in the Official Gazette no. 464 of 9 May 2022, Ms. Mihaela CIOCHINĂ was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court, for a term of 9 years, starting on 11 June 2022.

By the Decision of the Senate no. 81, respectively the Decision of the Chamber of Deputies no. 36, published in the Official Gazette no. 430 of 3 May 2022, Ms. Laura-Iuliana SCÂNTEI and Mr. Dimitrie-Bogdan LICU were appointed as judges of the Constitutional Court, for a term of 9 years, starting on 11 June  2022.

The swearing-in moment, according to Article 63 of Law no. 47/1992 on the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court, marks the taking of office into the position of judge of the Constitutional Court and was followed by the meeting of the Plenary, in the new composition, for the election of the new Court president.

Following the secret vote, by unanimity of the judges present, Mr. Marian ENACHE was elected President of the Constitutional Court for a term of three years.

The procedure for electing the new President of the Constitutional Court was carried out pursuant to the provisions of Article 7 (1), (2) and (3) of Law No. 47/1992 on the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court.
