Press Release, 17 March 2021

On 17 March 2021, as part of the review prior to promulgation, the Constitutional Court

1. By a majority vote, upheld the objection of unconstitutionality formulated by a number of 28 senators belonging to the parliamentary group of the Social Democratic Party and found unconstitutional the provisions of Articles 18 and 67 of the Law on certain temporary measures regarding the admission contest at the National Institute of Magistracy, the initial professional training of judges and prosecutors, the graduation exam at the National Institute of Magistracy, the internship and the capacity examination of trainee judges and prosecutors, as well as the competition for admission in Magistracy.

The decision is final and generally binding.

The arguments retained as grounds for the solution delivered by the Constitutional Court shall be presented in the decisions, to be published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I.
