On 2 December 2024, reviewing the observance of the procedure for the election of the President of Romania, conferring effectiveness on the powers enshrined in the Romanian Constitution, as well as in respect of the popular vote expressed in the first round of the 2024 presidential elections, the constitutional judges decided unanimously as follows:
– dismissal as unfounded of Mr Cristian Vasile Terheș’s request for annulment of the first round of the Romanian presidential elections, organised on 24 November 2024;
– confirmation and validation of the returns of the first round of the Romanian presidential elections, organised on 24 November 2024;
– organisation of the second rounds of the Romanian presidential elections on Sunday 8 December 2024, in which Mr Călin Georgescu and Ms Elena-Valerica Lasconi will participate, in that order.
