PRESS RELEASE, 28 November 2024

On 28 November 2024, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court examined the request for annulment of the elections for the office of President of Romania held on 24 November 2024, filed by Mr. Cristian Vasile Terheș (File No 3671F/2024), and, taking into account Article 146 (f) of the Constitution, Article 3 of Law No 370/2004 on the election of the President of Romania, as well as Articles 37 and 76 of Law No 47/1992 on the organisation and functioning of the Constitutional Court,  unanimously ordered:

1. The re-check and recount of all ballot papers containing the validly cast and invalid votes in the elections for the office of President of Romania of 24 November 2024.

2. The submission of the results of the re-check and recount process to the Constitutional Court by the Central Electoral Bureau.

3. Trial date: 29 November 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

At the same sitting, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court unanimously dismissed, as late, the request for annulment of the elections for the office of President of Romania held on 24 November 2024, filed by Mr. Sebastian-Constantin Popescu (File No 3672F/2024).

Moreover, for File No 3670F/2024, it established the trial date for 29 November 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

The decisions are final and shall be communicated to the Central Electoral Bureau.

The arguments retained as grounds for the solutions delivered by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court shall be presented within the decisions, to be published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I.
